The sweetest couple in their 70s approached us to do an ‘aging in place’ one level primary suite addition to their home. They were the original owners of the house, and after raising three boys who are now raising families in the local area, their connection to the house was strong. We took the simplest approach and converted a living room window into a door to access the addition on the side. The biggest challenge was that the plumbing was unfortunately all clustered on the other side of the home, over forty feet away. A collaborative approach with the construction team was needed. Thoughtful elements like wide doors, curb less shower and a shower seat were added keeping accessibility in mind. All finishes were carefully chosen to create an elegant and timeless suite for the homeowners to enjoy with their family.
