This home was perfect for the homeowners except that it lacked a home office, which is increasingly becoming a necessity in our post pandemic lives. The site had several restrictions owing to the irregular lot size, grade levels, zoning setbacks and a beautiful three season porch in the back that made a rear addition impracticable. We designed a clever addition to the side that followed the angle of the property line to maximize the allowable addition on two levels. On the main level, we added a home office to the side of the living room and upstairs we added a sitting room off the primary bedroom. We matched the brick at the front of the house and siding on the sides, creating a seamless addition that feels like a part of the original home.
